The Spring-Summer 2012 Collection takes inspiration from the life works of artist Frances C. B. Cadell (1883-1937) one of the revered Scottish Colourists. Born in Edinburgh he travelled to Paris to receive artistic training and it was here he was exposed to the early paintings of the Impressionists, something which had a profound and defining effect on the direction of his own artistic style.
Cadell’s pigment rich paintings of the Scottish island of Iona lend a palette of hot pink, scarlet, emerald and tangerine contrasted against chalky whites and deepest black. Vibrant plush suede wedges, ruched shantung silk sandals and peep toe peplum tasselled ankle boots are key styles. As a tribute, each shoe has been given a name from a person or place associated with the life and work of F. C. B. Cadell.
